| The series will air in a 9pm timeslot from August 13. Skins is set to air in the US on BBC America. What on earth will they make of the outrageous, honest and buoyant kids when compared to the groomed kids of The OC or Gossip Girl? Hopefully it will be a wake up call on depicting teenagers as true teenagers, not just young adults with adult values. But it will also push a lot of buttons for its use of sex, drugs and rock & roll. At least on cable it has a lot more leeway. Producers have also indicated all but one of the current cast will be replaced for the third series. SKINS U.S. PREMIERE Teenagers grab life by the balls in BBC AMERICA's hot new comedy drama, Skins. Starring Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy, The Weather Man), and with a team of writers averaging the age of 22, the award-winning show follows the lives and loves of a group of shameless teenagers. A potent mix of humorous, heartbreaking and shocking stories unfold as the group get high, get drunk, get laid and get up for school, while pushing boundaries and managing their parents in ways only teenagers can. Skins premieres Wednesday, August 13, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Sources - TV Tonight: America gets some SkinsAUGUST IS U.S. PREMIERE MONTH ON BBC AMERICA | |

| Hai guyz! Tip from a fandom veteran to any and all newbies:
Putting "Character B is OOC" in the header is not a good warning. That is bad writing. (And also, if you have to do it, plz to be putting it in the "warnings" line, not the "spoilers" line.) - The Feel::annoyed

| and we'll sail around the worldBrendon/Spencer, ~1,800 words of ridiculously silly and self-indulgent make-out fic. "I wasn't going to freak out," Brendon says, injured. "I'm cool. I'm ice cool. I can take anything anyone throws at me without even blinking, that's how cool I am. Everybody underestimates me."
"Well," Spencer says. He takes another sip of his frappuccino. "Good. Glad to hear it."Here

| Xanxus' name has always been spelled as X-a-n-x-u-s.
Therefore, it was never spelled as X-e-m-n-a-s.
I would have enjoyed your fic if you have written his name well, like what you did on the cover (as I remember).
It is a shame that you ruined a fic with my OTP when it's already minor.
Disappointed, Kana. | |

| Digimon fanthing, what in the living hell possessed you to name your original character "Taiora"? I keep thinking it should be in someone's plot summary somewhere with all the other pairings.
And it's not "DigiDestine", you're missing a D.
Also, Digimon fandom, for crying out loud, how many times do I have to ask you to stop mangling Oikawa's name?! WTF is "Orikawa"? It's a proper family name, but it's SERIOUSLY not the one you're looking for. Speaking of proper family names, "Owikawa" is NOT one. Jesus, I know you people don't like Oikawa, but at least spell his name right. - The Feel::annoyed

| This is set in late 2003, UK/Ireland (it can either be London or Dublin, depending on what fits.) Character is a 26 year old male. Drank/stressed himself into a stomach ulcer. Now I know that around six months later, he ended up with a scar like this (shirtless man under the link). My question is, how long would he have been in hospital, assuming no complications, and how long would he have been told "Stay in bed" and "take it easy" for after? He's got someone to come home to who will look after him, I'm guessing that affects when he'd be released. I know it depends on the type - I don't have any more details than that, I just know "stomach ulcer" from stress and drinking. I'm looking for a ballpark figure - are we talking an overnight in hospital, then sent home under orders to stay in bed, or are we talking ten days before they let him out? Google hasn't come up with much - plenty about controlling ulcers, or about what can lead to you having surgery, but nothing about after surgery. Thank you in advance. | |

| The Fairy Tales section at the Pit is a mess.
I just wanted to read some decent fairy tale fic. Maybe some Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, or Snow White. Some nice little vigenettes or something.
But the first page of the Fairy Tale section is littered with a load of OCs and original fic and I'm already wondering if I should even keep looking.
Oh, FF.net. You never, ever fail to disappoint. :(

| Here's the latest interview of Tricia on her role on "Burn Notice". (Possible BN S2 spoiler.) She also talks about BSG. In case any of you are interested, you can see the episode stills here. Burn Notice returns on July 10th on USA network ( Official). It's a smart and funny show and I can't recommend it enough :) | |

Greta-Centric with bonus Jamia and Brendon | Gen | ~3,000 words | PG-13
Warnings: Character Death (sort of) and Kid!fic Notes: This is liberally coated in The Hush Sound's song, "The Lighthouse", with a sprinkling of "Pretty Down to Your Bones" and " Where We Went Wrong" on top. This entire AU was inspired and based upon these songs.
She still wasn't allowed outside without Mummy or Daddy with her, even though she turns seven in exactly thirteen days. There wasn't much to look at from the window. Waves crashed and pounded the shore. The sky was a dark grey, and nothing like the blue color described in the stories Daddy used to read to her before they left home. Strong wind whipped the sand into shapes that danced before Greta's eyes. All there was was sand and salt and water and shells, and Greta wasn't particularly fond of any of these things. She was much, much more interested in the lighthouse that sat a distance from her.

| I don;t buy the three way love idea...It's unnatural.
Thanks arsehole for declaring my family unnatural. Always pisses me off and particularly ironic that as person reading Harry/Draco fanfic you can accept to gay(bi) wizards who used to be enemies, but insist that the idea three people can love each other is "unnatural"!
Given that myself and my two partners have been together and happily in love and raising a child for longer than many fanfic readers have even been alive... You can shove it you know where.
If you don't want to read a fic featuring a triad, don't! The warnings are up front in the fic. Keep your bigotry to yourself.

| Let's clear up a few things, because while this slash!'ship is easy to see in fanon although it isn't canon, there are also some very easy ways to screw it up.
1. These two did not go to college together- House went to Michigan and Hopkins, Wilson went to McGill. If they met that young it would have been a random coincidence. So if you write a fic where they do, it's AU.
2. They are not the same age- Wilson occasionally acknowledges himself to be younger than House (though admittedly I can't think of examples offhand) and going by the ages of the actors there's a ten year age difference. So even if they went to the same school, they did not go to school together.
3. House occasionally calls Wilson "Jimmy" when he's being snarky, or whining. He does not call him "Jamie" in an affectionate fashion- and that thought made me go "eww". House is, canonically, not likely to do that- he didn't have any pet names for Stacy.
4. The show has, occasionally, referenced the concept of them having a relationship, and consistently denied that it's ever happened. Not to say that AUs are bad- I love them- but please, mark them!
5. There was also that bit, in the episode third season where we find out Foreman is dating Wendy the Pediatric Nurse, where Wilson had a second of wondering whether House was asking him to go to the Poconos together as a couple. It was great, and I honestly don't know why there isn't more fic about it, but more to the point- it means Wilson is not insanely dense about this kind of thing. He knows House very well, and he's been in a LOT of relationships- this is actually a guy who can pick up on hints. Please use that to your (his) advantage!
6. Both Wilson and House are brunettes- though Wilson's hair has notable blond highlights. Referring to one of them as "the brunette" when they are talking to each other is not helpful. (Also, language nitpick- men are blond, women are blonde, which comes from the original French. It bothers me that in English, men are not described as brunet. Especially as my Firefox spell checker is saying "blonde" is wrong and "brunet" is not. Meh, English.)
7. Both House and Wilson are out of high school. They are not likely to text message each other. They are not likely to have emotional tantrums at the drop of a hat (unless they are purely for effect). And these are the last two men on the planet who are likely to have unprotected sex with random strangers.
Thank you, we now return you to our regularly scheduled grammar rants.
